Welcome to 2018 future MBAs! The new year promises to bring many changes to Online MBA Programs, as the academic arena becomes even more competitive than it was just one year ago. B-schools such as USC Marshall School of Business and Warwick Business School are prepared to compete by making some unique, but strategic changes to their programs, while a number of top professors have launched “programs” that they claim can teach you all you need to know about business in a few weeks or even a few hours. In fact, one professor says his program is the shortest MBA ever—just eight hours at a fraction of the cost of a full-blown MBA program.
And then there’s George Mason University (GMU), which, like a number of other B-schools, has already eliminated its full-time residential MBA, and will now offer an MBA that can be completed entirely online.
We are pleased to announce that USC Marshall, Warwick Business School, George Mason University, and a top professor and venture capitalist have some exciting new programs and updates you need to know about. Read on.
University of Southern California (USC), Marshall School of Business – Los Angeles, California
USC Marshall School of Business launched its Online MBA in Fall 2015. Today, the AACSB-accredited program has a partnership with All Campus, a creative agency and enrollment services firm, which USC says was hired to help “support the programs continuous growth.” According to USC Online, Joe Diamond, CEO of All Campus, said, “Our team looks forward to partnering with such an esteemed university on a program that’s built to raise expectations and change the way we all think about the online MBA.”
Per the school, every course in the Marshall Online MBA is designed “top-to-bottom specifically for an online format.” Led by “renowned” members of the USC Marshall faculty, online coursework will be conducted primarily in an asynchronous format, with weekly synchronous seminars conducted by faculty via webcam. The format allows students to “enjoy a flexible learning experience that features real-time interaction with faculty as well as educational content that can be viewed at any time.” and a The program requires participation in a single, one-week on-campus event.
The program incorporates live action cases, interactive exercises, and virtual teams. A unique component of the program is students will have the ability to take classes in online programs at other USC schools and enroll in additional online courses from Marshall MS programs in entrepreneurship, global supply chain management, and marketing. Per the school, “the curriculum was created specifically for the program, rather than just taking traditional in-classroom content and putting it online.”
This isn’t the first successful online program for USC Marshall. The school has developed an online Master of Business Taxation and a Master of Global Supply Chain Management, and it has invested in “considerable infrastructure to develop online learning programs, training and supporting faculty and developing a dedicated instructional team and studio to build out the online MBA program curriculum.”
The Marshall Online MBA takes just 21 months to complete and applications are being accepted now for Fall 2018.
