Nevada is home to 25 recognized colleges and universities. A number of these schools offer programs for aspiring business professionals, but just one offers an Online MBA Program. The College of Business Administration at University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) offers a 36 credit hour (12 course) Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) that may be completed entirely online. Offered as a two-year cohort program beginning Fall 2017, the MBA Program is divided into three semesters, each containing two courses: Fall, Spring, and Summer. Each class runs for 12 weeks, along with at least one proctored exam taken through ProctorU or in the 365 Learning Office. According to the school, “courses in the EMBA program are sequenced to assure continuity in learning.”
Students in the UNR Online MBA Program can expect to take core courses such as Statistics for Decision Making, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Economics of the Firm, and Production/Operations Management, to name a few. Breadth courses (15 credits) include Personal Branding, Strategic Management for Executives, Managing Organizations in a Global Economy, Seminar Managerial Accounting, and Information and Communications Technology in Organizations. Because the Online EMBA is a rigorous two-year degree program, students should plan to spend at least 15 to 20 hours each week on course assignments, discussions, and research.
All programs offered by the College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). In addition to maintaining AACSB accreditation, the UNR Online MBA ranked #31 Nationally by U.S. News & World Report (tied with Rochester Institute of Technology).
