Maryland is home to 62 recognized colleges and universities and many of these schools offer business programs at all degree levels. According to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), at least eight have been accredited by the agency. University of Baltimore, Baltimore
Robert G. Merrick School of Business at University of Baltimore (UB) launched in 1999, becoming the first AACSB accredited school to pioneer a web-based MBA program. The program covers the following themes: Managing Innovation and Strategy, Leading and Managing People, Interfacing with External Stakeholders, Managing the Value Chain, Managing Performance and Risk, and Leveraging Technology and Business Intelligence. Students have six opportunities to enter the program, at the start of any session. The UB Merrick Online MBA ranked #110 by U.S. News & World Report.
Salisbury University, Salisbury
Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University (SU) offers an MBA Program that may be completed 100% online. Students have two paths to completion—a one year accelerated option and a two-year part-time program. The program consists of 12 credits of foundation courses and 30 credits of MBA courses delivered in seven-week sessions. For students interested in mixing online courses with classroom courses, a Hybrid option is available. The SU Online MBA is AACSB accredited.
University of Maryland, College Park
Robert H. Smith School of Business at University of Maryland (UMD) offers an Online MBA Program that may be completed in as few as 21 months. The program offers specializations in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Analytics, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. Students may also opt for the broader General Track. Other program highlights include AACSB accreditation, access to the Dingman Center—one of the nation’s first academic entrepreneurship centers and recognized as one of the nation’s largest angel groups, and top rankings in multiple outlets, such as the Financial Times and Businessweek.
University of Maryland University College, Adelphi
University of Maryland University College offers an Online MBA that has received specialized accreditation through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). Also offered in a Hybrid format, this 36 credit hour program prepares students for nine certification exams. Just a few include Certified Scrum Master, Certified Software Development Professional, Certified Supply Chain Professional, Certified Quality Engineer, CompTIA Project+, and Project Management Professional. While most students complete the program in less than two years, all degree requirements must be fulfilled within five consecutive years.
Frostburg State University, Frostburg
The College of Business at Frostburg State University offers an Online MBA Program that may be completed in as few as 12 months. The 36 to 42 credit hour program focuses on Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, and Management as well as development in areas such as leadership and ethical behavior, communication effectiveness, technological sophistication, collaboration, and creativity. Students may take one to four courses per semester. The Frostburg Online MBA is AACSB accredited.
Morgan State University, Baltimore
Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management at Morgan State University began offering an Online MBA Program in 2016. Per the school, the Online MBA program “provides a globally accessible second delivery platform for Morgan’s MBA program.” The two-year program consists of seven core courses and four electives for a total of 33 credits. Chosen electives will determine the student’s area of emphasis. Just a few options include Accounting, Finance, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, and Marketing. The Graves Online MBA is AACSB accredited.
Washington Adventist University, Takoma Park
The Washington Adventist University Online MBA Program consists of thirteen courses (37 credit hours), “that provide opportunities to develop advanced business skills that are current and applicable to real-world business situations.” Designed to accommodate the needs of working adults, the Online MBA is offered in a condensed format allowing students to complete the program in as little as 12 months. Washington Adventist University is accredited by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHE) of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA).
