Maine is home to 32 recognized colleges and universities and many of these schools offer business programs at all degree levels. According to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), at least two have been accredited by the agency. One of these AACSB accredited schools made our list of Best Online MBA Programs in Maine. Let’s take a look at what this and a few other Maine business schools have to offer, followed by a list of several other leading business schools in the region.
University of Maine, Orono
University of Maine (UMaine) is home to the Maine Business School, which offers a fully online MBA Program referred to as “the Essential MBA.” Per the school, this AACSB accredited program is designed to provide students “with essential business knowledge in accounting, finance, marketing, and management, as well as to advance skills in leadership, critical thinking and analysis, and global engagement.” The 30 credit, 10-course UMaine MBA is also offered in a blended format where students take most courses live and the rest online. Besides earning AACSB accreditation, Maine Business School was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Top 200 Business Schools in the Nation.
Husson University, Bangor
The School of Business and Management at Husson University offers a 36 credit hour Online MBA that accepts students from all backgrounds. This means that there are no undergraduate prerequisites to graduate-level course work. Students in the Husson MBA Program can expect to study the traditional areas of Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Marketing. They also have access to six timely concentrations including Biotechnology & Innovation, General/Corporate, Healthcare Management, Organizational Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Risk Management. The Husson Online MBA takes as few as 18 months to complete.
Husson University has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). This includes the General MBA and all concentrations.
Saint Joseph’s College, Standish
Saint Joseph’s College offers an Online MBA Program known as the Leadership MBA (LMBA). The program requires nearly 20 fewer credits than other institutions’ programs, which allows students to complete the program in as few as 18 months. Courses for the Leadership MBA are grouped into four levels including Leading Context, Leading Relationships, Leading Sustainability and Leading Strategically. Each level must be completed before progressing to the next level and there is no thesis requirement for the LMBA Program. Saint Joseph's College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC).
