1. University of Texas at Dallas, Dallas, Texas
The Naveen Jindal School of Management at the University of Texas-Dallas offers a professional MBA (PMBA) that allows students up to 72 months to finish and a hybrid MBA that takes 21 to 23 months to complete. The AACSB International-accredited PMBA utilizes "streaming audio lectures, video clips, online exams and online submission of assignments, and interactivity for group projects using discussion forums, email, and web conferencing." The hybrid MBA programs allows students to complete their degree by attending just five classroom retreats, through online coursework, and via web conferences.
The 53-credit-hour online MBA and hybrid programs offer 24 hours of electives, with an impressive 12 concentrations. Just a few include Accounting, Information Systems, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Real Estate, and Supply Chain Management. All online MBA students, regardless of concentration, are encouraged to participate in the school's International Study Programs which "give direct exposure to business in a global context."
2. Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona
The W.P Carey School of Business at Arizona State University offers an AACSB International- accredited online MBA that requires just one meeting at the beginning of the program. This mandatory orientation session allows students to meet W.P. Carey faculty, staff, students, and teammates. After orientation, coursework for the 36-credit-hour program may be completed entirely online.
The online MBA at W.P. Carey allows students to customize their MBA by declaring an area of emphasis in Finance, International Business, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management. Students also have the option to earn two degrees in less time and at a lower cost. Concurrent degree options include the MBA/Master of Legal Studies, the MBA/MSE Electrical Engineering, and the MBA/MS Industrial Engineering.
3. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, North Carolina
The Kenan-Flagler Business School at University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill offers an online MBA program that features the same curriculum as the on-campus program. Students in the 66-credit-hour program will complete their coursework online and interact with faculty regularly using a face-to-face online platform. Two important components of the program, however, are the MBA@UNC Global Immersions and quarterly three-day immersions. Students are required to attend at least two immersions. Participation in Global Immersions will take students to major business centers around the world such as Singapore, Johannesburg, Istanbul, London, and others.
Online MBA students have six concentrations to choose from including Corporate Finance, Entrepreneurship, Global Supply Chain Management, Investment Management, Marketing, and Sustainable Enterprise. In addition, students may participate in several other programs to gain additional hands-on business and international experience. Optional programs include Student Teams Achieving Results (STAR), where "students learn by doing as they take on the role of consultants to real companies," the Exchange Program which "allows MBA@UNC students to study at another top-ranked business school in countries across the globe," and Doing Business In (DBI) which "gives students an opportunity to study abroad at an MBA exchange partner school."
The online MBA at UNC is AACSB-International accredited.
4. Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts
The D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University offers an AACSB International-accredited online MBA with optional residencies at the schools domestic campus locations and international locations such as China, Russia, and Greece. The 50-credit-hour program, which may be completed in 24 to 27 months, also features eight specializations ranging from Finance and Innovation Entrepreneurship to International Management and Sustainability.
D'Amore-McKim online MBA students have the option to earn a dual Masters in Finance/MBA degree by talking "as few as four to seven additional finance electives." In addition to optional residencies, both programs utilize online class discussions, discussion board collaboration, team projects, and individual assignments for a well-rounded academic experience.
5. University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska
The College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln offers a 48-credit-hour MBA program that allows students to complete the entire program online. However, students may visit the campus at any time. The program includes 10 core classes (30 hours), nine hours of breadth electives, and nine hours of electives. Specialization options include Agribusiness, Business Analytics, Finance and Marketing, International Business, and Supply Chain Management.
Students may begin their studies in January, March, June, August or October of each year. The average completion time for the online MBA is three years, but it is possible to complete it in 1.5 years. However, students may take up to 10 years to complete the AACSB International-accredited program.
6. Washington State University, Pullman, Washington
Washington State University’s Carson College of Business offers a 36-credit-hour online MBA and a 44-credit-hour online Executive MBA (EMBA). The online MBA program offers three concentrations – Marketing, Finance, and International Business, and may completed in as little as 22 months. Students without a bachelor’s degree in business may have to take up to 17 additional credit hours, which will increase their completion time.
The online EMBA consists of Marketing-Marketing Management and Administrative Policy, Finance-Problems in Financial Management, Management Information Systems-Information Systems Analysis, Business Administration-Business Analytics, and Accounting-Administrative Control. The EMBA program, which also offers the opportunity to travel to China for a week-long residency, may be completed in as little 18 months. Both the online MBA and EMBA are AACSB International-accredited.
7. North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina
The Jenkins Graduate School of Management at North Carolina State University offers a 39-credit-hour professional Online MBA that offers six Areas of Emphasis including Biosciences Management, Entrepreneurship & Technology, Financial Management, Innovation Management, Marketing Management, and Supply Chain Management. The AACSB International-accredited program also offers the opportunity to earn Decision Analytics Certification or SAP Certification. SAP is the world's largest enterprise applications software company, with a wide range of software used by more than 38,000 firms in over 120 countries.
Students in the Jenkins online MBA program may choose the Accelerated Professional Track, which takes as little as 21 months to complete or the Flexible Professional Track allows students to complete their degree within six years. Students in both online programs will interact with each other through distance education technology (including Blackboard Collaborate and Moodle), e-mail, online discussion forums (message boards, instant messaging, etc.), and telephone conferencing.” Students will also have the opportunity to meet during one three-day mandatory Raleigh Residency.
An optional International Residency is also on the menu, as well a four-week mandatory Virtual Orientation prior to the start of the program.
8. Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York
The Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University offers a 54-credit-hour online MBA with five optional specializations. Students may specialize in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing Management, or Supply Chain Management. The AACSB International-accredited program combines “live online classes led by Syracuse University faculty, self-paced coursework and hands-on learning through domestic and international residencies.”
While coursework for the online MBA program may be completed entirely online, all students will participate in “three-day long residencies in cities around the world,” which offer “real-world experiences.” One residency requires students to meet “face-to-face with classmates and professors for networking and socializing. Students also participate in workshops and hear from guest speakers from top companies.”
The online MBA program at Syracuse University, better known as MBA@Syracuse, may be completed in as little as two years.
9. Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama
The Raymond J. Harbert College of Business at Auburn University offers a “video-based Distance MBA” that may be completed in in 2.5 years, part-time. The 36-credit-hour program offers an optional three-day orientation at the beginning of the program and a three-day visit to campus towards the end of the program to complete the Capstone Course. Otherwise, all coursework for the program may be completed online.
In addition to optional concentrations in Finance, Marketing, Management, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Business Analytics and Human Resource Management, the AACSB International-accredited program offers dual degrees in MSBA-Finance, Management Information Systems, and Industrial and Systems Engineering.
10. West Texas A&M University – College of Business, Canyon, Texas
The College of Business at West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) offers a 31 to 49-credit-hour MBA program that may be completed entirely online. Students may also “combine online courses with campus courses to meet degree requirements.” Regardless of delivery format, all MBA students may choose an optional emphasis area such as Computer Information Systems, Management, Marketing, or Healthcare Management.
Accredited by AACSB International, the online MBA at WTAMU’s College of Business may be completed within a two-year period. However, some students have completed the program in as few as 12 to 18 months.
11. Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Michigan
Central Michigan University’s (CMU) “Global Campus” offers an online MBA degree that features several emphasis areas: Human Resource Management, Logistics Management, Marketing, Value-Driven Organization, and ERP Emphasis Using SAP Software. SAP is the world's largest enterprise applications software company, with a wide range of software used by more than 38,000 firms in over 120 countries. The ERP Emphasis/SAP is a 40-credit-hour program that requires a two-week face-to-face SAP Academy.
Depending on the area of concentration, other MBA students may have to take anywhere from 36 to 43 credit hours to complete the program. The Online MBA program at CMU’s Global Campus is AACSB International-accredited.
12. University of North Texas, Denton, Texas
The College of Business (CoB) at University of North Texas offers three MBA programs that may be completed 100% online. Programs include the MBA in Finance, the MBA in Strategic Management, and the MBA in Marketing. The coursework for each 36-credit-hour online MBA is identical to the school’s traditional MBA program and may be completed in as little as two years.
The College of Business also offers another delivery format for students interested in completing coursework on campus and online. The blended format (50% online and 50% face-to-face) is also identical to the school’s traditional MBA and consists of 36-credit-hours of coursework. All MBA programs offered through the College of Business at University of North Texas hold AACSB International accreditation.
13. University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Amherst, Massachusetts
The University of Massachusetts-Amherst Isenberg School of Management offers a 45-credit-hour online MBA that features four areas of focus including Entrepreneurship, Finance, Healthcare Administration, and Marketing. Accredited by AACSB International, the Isenberg Online MBA features a unique opportunity for students to “try before you buy.” Potential MBA students can take up to two classes before applying to learn why the program is a good fit.
Besides several concentrations and the opportunity to experience the program before committing, students have an additional delivery option. The Blended Option allows students to take some classes online and others at a conveniently located satellite campus in Massachusetts. Campuses are located in Boston, Shrewsbury, or Springfield.
14. Pepperdine University, Malibu, California
The Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University offers an online MBA program that features four elective concentrations. Students may choose between Finance, General Management, Leadership and Managing Organizational Change, and Marketing. Accredited by AACSB International, the 52-credit-hour program takes as little as two years to complete.
15. Florida International University, Miami, Florida
Florida International University’s (FIU) Chapman Graduate School offers a Corporate MBA (CMBA) and a Professional MBA FLEX (PMBA). The CMBA may be completed 100% online via discussion boards, chats, and emails. The PMBA utilizes a "blended-learning” format that alternates online and in-person classes. The PMBA option requires students to meet in a classroom setting just once a week and it offers specializations in Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Marketing, Management Information Systems, and Real Estate.
Both programs are AACSB International-accredited and require 42 credit-hours of study to graduate. However, the PMBA may take 24 months (or more) to complete, while the CMBA takes just 18 months to complete.
16. Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
The College of Business and Economics at Lehigh University offers two MBA programs: the MBA and the MBA&E. Both programs may be completed 100% online. The 36-credit-hour MBA program is a general MBA that does not offer any concentrations. Offered by both the College of Business and Economics and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the 45-credit-hour MBA&E program is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in engineering. MBA&E concentrations include Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
Upon completion of the program MBA&E program, students receive an MBA degree with a concentration in their chosen area. Both programs are AACSB International-accredited.
17. Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas
The College of Business at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) offers a 34-credit-hour MBA that may be completed 100% online. This means there are no residency requirements and students can complete their degree on their own time either full-time or part-time. The program also offers the option to sit out a semester or two—if needed.
The online MBA at FHSU offers nearly a dozen concentrations from Finance, Marketing, and Information Assurance to Health & Human Performance/Sports Management and Tourism and Hospitality Management. Students with an undergraduate degree in business administration may complete the online FHSU MBA degree in as little as two years. Students with a non-business background will have to complete up to 47 credit-hours, which will take longer to complete.
18. Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Carbondale, Illinois
The College of Business at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale offers a 42-credit-hour MBA program that may be completed in just 23 months. The AACSB International-accredited program features a concentration in Agricultural Economics through a partnership between the College of Business and the College of Agricultural Science. Students may begin the General MBA or MBA-with concentration program during the summer session only.
19.Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) offers a 36-credit-hour online MBA with specializations in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Marketing, International Business, and Public Administration. The school also offers a unique MBA in Aviation. Students that declare a concentration may be required to take 12 additional credit hours.
While the MBA program at Embry-Riddle may be completed entirely online, students have access to more than 150 convenient ERAU campuses across the country. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
20. University of Michigan-Dearborn, Dearborn, Michigan
The College of Business at the University of Michigan-Dearborn offers a 36 to 48-credit-hour MBA program featuring courses in Applied Integrated Management. The College also offers a dual MBA/MS-Finance degree and a MBA/MSE-Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE) program. All three programs may be completed fully online “with no campus presence.”
The online MBA program offers eight optional concentrations from Accounting to Supply Chain Management. The online dual MBA/MS-Finance offers six optional concentrations, and the MBA/MSE- ISE offers four optional concentrations including ISE, Integrated Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Information Systems, and Program Management and Product Development.
As part of the College of Business at University of Michigan-Dearborn, all online MBA programs are accredited by AACSB International.
21. Brenau University, Gainesville, Georgia
Brenau University offers a 45-credit-hour MBA program that may be completed 100% online or via a blended format. The program offers nine concentration from Accounting and Entrepreneurship to Finance, Marketing, and Management. The Finance concentration leads to a MBA + a Certificate in Finance. Concentration courses for the blended format are offered primarily online, with core course availability online or on campus.
The business programs at Brenau University are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
22. Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado
The College of Business at Colorado State University offers an online Professional MBA that dates back to 1975 when the first “distance” offering was introduced. Today, the 40-credit-hour program is offered 100% online and features three specializations including Computer Information Systems, Finance, and Marketing. The AACSB International-accredited program also offers a Certificate in Federal Financial Management.
Students may participate in an optional International Seminar, which consists of an international business study trip. Even if a student opts for the International Seminar, the online MBA program may be completed in as little as 21 months. However, students are permitted to take up to five years to complete the program.
23. Saint Leo University, Saint Leo, Florida
The School of Business at Saint Leo University offers an online MBA with eight specializations. Options include Accounting, Health Care Management, Human Resource Management, Information Security Management, Marketing, Market Research and Social Media Analytics, Project Management, and Sport Business. The 36-credit-hour program allows students to pursue up to two MBA concentrations concurrently. In addition, students may start the program “at any of the six terms each year.” An internship opportunity is also open to all students.
The online MBA program at Saint Leo University is IACBE-accredited.
24. Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, North Carolina
Fayetteville State University offers a 36-credit-hour MBA that may be completed 100% online. The AACSB International-accredited program focuses on technology and decision-making, leadership and management skills, and innovation and strategy. A general MBA is available, plus seven concentrations including Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Business, Management, and Marketing. The school’s latest additions include the Healthcare Management and Project Management concentrations. Students have the option to begin the online MBA program in fall, spring or summer and they may take up to six years to complete the program.
25. Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, Missouri
Missouri University of Science and Technology offers an MBA program that allows students to attend on a part-time basis and complete the program entirely online. The online MBA program requires 36 credit hours to complete and it offers 10 specialization areas. Options include
Business Intelligence, Business Sustainability, Enterprise Resource Planning, Human-Computer Interaction, International Business, Marketing, New Product Development, Project Management, Strategy, and Supply Chain Management.
Courses for the AACSB International-accredited program are delivered over the Internet, via live streaming video and collaborative learning software, which includes WebEx and Blackboard. In addition, classes are “archived online” for easy access and review. The online MBA program at Missouri University of Science and Technology usually takes just two to three years to complete.
Note: Students interested in earning college credit toward their MBA might consider a Graduate Certificate Program. Students earning a B or better in all core courses may be accepted into the corresponding degree program without taking the GRE. Certificates are available in the following MBA related areas: Business Intelligence, Enterprise Resource Planning, Human-Computer Interaction, and Project Management.
